The rooms you will spend your days in

Practical demonstration room

Hospital beds, adult and infant manikins, dressing trolleys and an incubator. Every procedure is rehearsed here before a ward.

  • Adult, obstetric and infant manikins
  • Injection, dressing and catheterisation stations
  • Infant incubator and resuscitation trainer
  • Bed-making, positioning and hygiene practice

A day here moves between three rooms.

    Morning: the lecture hall

    Theory first. Anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and nursing science, with continuous assessment tests through the semester.

    Midday: the demonstration room

    Every procedure is rehearsed on manikins and on each other before it is ever done on a patient. Injections, dressings, blood pressure, bed care.

    Afternoon: the laboratory

    Microscopy, chemistry and microbiology practicals in the science laboratory, or CBT and e-learning in the ICT laboratory.
