A college that grew out of a hospital, so the ward is never far from the classroom.

Almadina Hospital has cared for Zaria since 1996. In 2023 it opened this college to train the nurses and midwives the region needs. Students learn the sciences here at Chikaji Road, rehearse every procedure in the demonstration rooms, and practise on real wards under supervision.

Four programmes. One standard of practice.

Nursing and midwifery to NMCN registration, a National Diploma under NBTE, and a one-year foundation certificate.

Basic General Nursing

The professional nursing programme. Anatomy, physiology and nursing science in the classroom, then supervised practice on the wards of Almadina Hospital and partner health facilities.

  • Anatomy, physiology, microbiology and pharmacology
  • Fundamentals of nursing: vital signs, medication, wound care, hygiene
  • Medical, surgical, paediatric, mental health and community nursing

National Diploma in Nursing

A nationally accredited diploma that gives you nursing knowledge, clinical practice and professional skills for effective healthcare delivery, with a path into further study.

Basic General Midwifery

Train to care for women through pregnancy, birth and the weeks after, and for their newborns. Taught in the demonstration laboratory and on the maternity wards.

  • Antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care
  • Newborn care and resuscitation
  • Family planning and reproductive health

1 year / College certificate

Introductory Certificate in Nursing Fundamentals

A one-year foundation course introducing nursing basics and healthcare principles. For school leavers who want a grounding before committing to a full programme, or a head start on the sciences.

  • Hygiene, infection control and safety
  • Health communication and study skills

The whole process runs on the iNurse portal. Application fee ₦15,000, not refundable. You can apply with awaiting results.

    Fill the online form

    Complete the application on the iNurse portal and pay the ₦15,000 non-refundable application fee. Keep the reference number you are given.

  2. 2

    Upload your results

    Add your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB results, previous school details, JAMB result slip and a passport photograph. You can apply with awaiting results.

  3. 3

    Sit the CBT

    You will be told the date of the entrance computer-based test. It is multiple choice, in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language.

  4. 4

    Interview

    Shortlisted candidates are invited to Almadina Hall for an interview with the admissions panel.

  5. 5

    Admission letter

    Successful candidates receive an admission letter and a student ID, then register at the Registrar's Office before resumption.

Hospital beds, adult and infant manikins, dressing trolleys and an incubator. Every procedure is rehearsed here before a ward.
