Train to care for women through pregnancy, birth and the weeks after, and for their newborns. Taught in the demonstration laboratory and on the maternity wards.

About the programme
Basic General Midwifery prepares you for registration as a midwife. You learn to support normal pregnancy and birth, recognise complications early, and care for mothers and newborns in hospital and in the community.
The programme uses the college's obstetric manikins, infant incubator and demonstration beds before students move to supervised deliveries.

Entry requirements
- 1Five credit passes at WAEC, NECO or GCE in no more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
- 2At least 17 years old at admission
- 3Nigerian by birth
- 4Pass the college's computer-based test and interview
Where it leads
- Sit the NMCN midwifery examination
- Practise as a Registered Midwife
- Work in maternity units, primary health centres and community programmes
